Time and Tide - Mary O'Sullivan

Vet ,Zach Claymore and his pregnant wife, Robyn, live a peaceful life in their cottage on the shores of Felton Bay, disturbed only by Robyn’s concern with climate change and Zach’s unease about Robyn’s previous ten year affair with Kevin Phillips, her boss on Daily News, the newspaper for which she writes.

When an outbreak of Bluetongue Virus, the first in Ireland, occurs in a local sheep herd, the media, including, Kevin Phillips, arrive in Felton to report on the animal sickness. Robyn, now eight months pregnant, is confused by her renewed contact with Kevin Phillips and jealous to see her friend and neighbour, Tansy Bingham, develop a relationship with him.

After the Met Office issue a weather alert, the people of Felton know their coastal village is in danger of flooding. As the weather warnings grow more urgent and the threatened Atlantic storm develops into a hurricane, the people have to unite to protect themselves against hurricane Kimi.

Sheltering in the safety of their Community Hall, cut off from any contact with the outside world, together they face the might of hurricane Kimi. It is a night of fear, violence, bravery, good and evil. A night when all pretence is gone and only the truth survives.
